on Ebay last night. Man, I've been watching that 99 since listed..and thinking and thinking of it. The auction bid did not move for several days. 1650.00/ 1650.00...1650.00. I got wiped out with the flu earlier in the week.. Finaly, after emerging out of it mid week.. I checked again..1650!
So I thought to myself..."it is time to make room for another" At 1650.00, my mind could not relax. I tried my best not to get too excited. Yes, the 99 was in Oregon; so I contacted Das. The shipping would be about a grand. I got up from the desk..walked a way from the computer..started pacing back and forth...took my shirt off.. Hmm...decisions....decisions...
The voice of reason on my shoulder.."Oh come on..you don't need another Saab...these cars come and go... What about all of your current projects! Have you forgotten that you have been saving for a welder? Fix the rotten floors on ones you have now, before looking at another car!
Then the voice of the Saab menace: " Are you crazy dude? This is a 99 Turbo! Take a look at that clean body. The little snout, and that lovely raked rear. That is a rare ride there. And no reserve. And only one bidder, and no rust..and no rust, and no rust... Make sure you are seated when the auction closes.
WEll.. two hours to go, and still 1650.00 YES! I did a little dance. I checked ten minutes later...3000!!!!
Damn! But you know Saabers....A part of me was a bit relieved too. I really don't need another Saab. I have at least four cars needing full restorations. I checked back later, and that car went for 4050.00. I examined the bids and there was some hot action towards the end..with the last bid being placed right before the close.
Every now and then, I feel this hobby is a true sickness. Whoever was responsible for driving the price up on that 99, the voice of reason especially thanks you.
