Why not use the original system ?
I converted my 1975 99LE to electronic ignition during summer 1992.
I took a ditributor from a 99T and had replaced the weights, the springs and the vacuum unit with those from my old distributor.
Instead of the old and large output stage unit, I had installed a new Bosch #0227100111 outputstage on a cooling plate #0227000000. I hooked a #0221122317 coil, and the system still works excellent today un snow or in desert heat. The magnetic coil inside the distributor lasted more than half a million kilomters before needing a replacement. I use NGK BCPR7ES spark plugs with an electrode gap of 0.7 mm, and replace them once 100,000 kilomtres.
