NEED HELP dashboard electric problem brown/white wire? Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Sun, 8 Jun 2008 08:29:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi, I've got a 1979 Saab 99 gl. Does anyone know how to test the electric ignition switch? My ignition switch works and starts up the car, but I believe the brown/white wire is not getting any electricity. Has anyone tested this switch before? How would I go about testing this switch? Also, I have been told that this could be a ground problem somewhere on the car,...any usual suspect areas I should investigate first? symptoms: no fuel gauge, no temp gauge, brake warning light, amp, or oil pressure gauge(basically everything in the far left instrument panel), no radiator fan, no horn, and no inside fan. When I unhooked wires individually from the ignition switch and started the car, the only one that had no difference from normal was when I disconnected the brown/white wire, it started up, and everything worked but those things just described, could it be that the car is running like this (without any electricity getting through when the brown/white wire is connected? Electrical problems are not my specialty, I appreciate your help.
