Dwane,
Hey, been there, and have a solution for you. This is what you do. Tell the U-haul place that you are going to tow a 1969 VW Bug. They will probably want a class III hitch on your truck, but the combined weight of a "69 bug" w/tow dolly should meet their requirments. If you want to be sure, go on the U-haul web site, and it will tell you if your vehicle/weight combo will/won't meet their "requirments".
I have towed a 95,96, and a Sonett with a 1994 Chevy S-10(4cyl, stick) with 109,000 miles. The farthest I towed was 860 miles, and that was towing a 1972 Mod 96 on a U-haul dolly from St Louis, MO. Two weeks ago I towed a 1970 Mod 95 from Conn. to Niagara Falls, NY. I ran up to 75 mph on the freeway. Just be careful on hills, and make sure that the tires on the SAAB are radials, not bias ply. Remember, 1969 VW BUG. Works every time. If you need any more info, contact me off list.
Good luck,
Kent
