What you are describing is the classic symptoms of clutch hydraulic failure or the clutch pedal travelling too far down before it begins releasing the clutch.
If it is hydraulic failure, rebuild or replace both the slave cylinder and the master cylinder. If one is leaking and you repair it, the other usually isn't far behind. Another possibility is that the rubber section of hose in the line between the master and slave is leaking or ballooning when you step on the clutch, again causing the clutch to disengage too close to the floor. The hose can be replaced by a competent hydraulic hose maker.
If the hydraulics are in good shape, the adjuster is set correctly and the pedal is traveling a long way before you get any resistance, it's probably a worn clevis pin hole in the clutch pedal arm and the master cylinder push rod. the holes shoudl both be round, not oval. I had a 99 that was so badly worn that the clutch pedal arm was wearing where it pressed against the end of the master push rod.
I never have figured out why SAAB uses a harder expendable clevis pin than the material that it goes through. On British cars I've seen badly worn clevis pins, but the pedal arm and pushrod yoke were in good shape.
