Industrial vs Saab V4 Engine Configuration

A gentleman in my neighborhood is phasing out his several V4-operated forklifts. He has, inter alia, one each brand new, in the crate, NOS 1.5 and 1.7 engines that he wishes to part with. I will be very inclined to relieve him of one of these, upon confirmation that the industrial version engines are internally identical to, or at least compatible to exchange for, the automotive versions. This has always been my impression but I have never had the need to nail the matter down. I am not concerned about external differences such as pulleys, carburetors, or even much about oil pans, manifolds, etc. I am concerned that the camshafts, valves, pistons, ie internal parts that are not easily exchanged, be identical or at least only different in ways that do not matter if one wants to put an industrial engine into a car. All comments welcome.
While we're at it, I am looking at specs for 1.5 vs 1.7 engines, and show (for years listed where I am looking right now) DIN HP 65 at 4700RPM for both; and DIN torque 85 at 2500RPM for both; and compression as 9.0 for 1.5L and 8.0 for 1.7L. Given these identical performance specs, what is the concensus on performance differences between the two in stock dress, if any?
