Arf! Arf! To the best of my remembrance, this is the sequence of events:
1) I had previously rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder, and, after replacing
the MC to Slave Hydralic hose with one manufactured by local hydralics dealer everything was working ok. 2) Then I switched engines putting a new
clutch disk on the engine I put in the car. 3)I replaced the pressure plate
with a used one i got from ebay after returning the one they sent me which
looked like it would fit a 3 banger, but not a v/4. 4) After I got everything together, I adjusted the slave cyl according to the clearance I think I got from this forum, it didn't need much; still had about 1/8" play. 5) I fired it up and made enough shifts to drive around the block then the clutch pedal went to the floor. 5) I ASSUMED that the master cyl.
had gone out since it was the original, (at least as long as I had the car:
ten years), and i figured the additional pressure from the rebuilt slave cyl., and dthe new clutch disk had severed the weakest link. 6)I ordered a
kit from "Speedycarparts.com" which appeared to replace the dust grommet,
and the two rubber seals on the internal plunger. (one on each end). Being
an idiot i just assumed it should be honed like a regular cylinder when you
put new rings in. So I took it to the local machine shop and asked them to
hone it. They charged me $3 but I dont think they did anyhing to it. I had
to reuse the old spring that fits on the end of they little plastic valve.
After I figured out which way the seals went, (they both face each other on the piston: right? ) (=====). When I put it together and tried to squirt
fluid with it, the piston would cock in the chamber. I took it apart and oild everything with mineral oil, and I could get 3 or 4 sqirts b/4 it would hang up. Thats where Im at now., I thought I might have ruined the
kit and ordered another from "SaabSite.com" forum dealer but it looks like
it is for a brake cylinder from the directions and I dont recognize any of the parts, except maybe the one that goes under the little plastic cap. So
now I have a rebuilt engine that doesn't use oil, doesn't leak oil, a rebuilt radiator that doesn't leak, relubed cv joints, and that will start
up and go like hell in first gear! Any offers?
