...for the 1967 model year only. It had the same trim and interior (dash with tach, wood-rimmed wheel, etc.) of the previous two-stroke Montecarlo 850, but was equipped with the V4 engine that debuted that year. In 1968 they dropped the Montecarlo name and called this model the Deluxe V4.
So maybe that's what you have -- although why it would have "Montecarlo 850" emblems on it is a mystery to me. Maybe somebody got mixed up at the factory, or maybe somebody decided later they preferred the 850 emblems.
Although it doesn't have the competition heritage of the two-stroke version, the Montecarlo V4 is a nice car to have -- you get the V4 engine, which has more torque and is easier to drive around town, with the nice Montecarlo interior. Handling isn't quite as good as the two-stroke version because of the extra weight on the front wheels, but I'd say it's still one of the most desirable of the early V4 cars.
