Scraping noise from rear brakes

Well my car is finally driving and I am loving it. Better than I expected even so I am really excited about the SAAB 96. Everything works now except for one problem.
After I redid the rear brakes, I put back on the drums and found that when I rotated them they would give sort of a scraping sound as they turned. Not bearings and not shoes rubbing as far as I can tell. If you put it on jack stands the wheel turn smoothly and coast so nothing seems to drag.
What it actually sounds like is a spring being strummed. The spring that holds the shoes together I did manage to put so that the body of the spring is towards the backing plate and not out on the drum side where it is easy to reach. I believe this is as origonal is that right.
Please help the car drives fine but sounds disturbing and I am anxious to be happily cruising.
P.S I hope to post some photos of the car tomarrow to this thread.
