Since you've got a vintage SAAB garage within 7 miles of your house, what about asking THEM what they think?
I agree that your chances of finding a 92 or even a good 93 are slim enough that unless you really enjoy the thrill of the chase, you're better off focusing on a 95 (wagon) or 96.
Within that family, I'd say that the V4s are plenty of fun and more practical as a daily-driver proposition, but the two-strokes are MORE fun to own and more fun to tinker with. The lighter weight of the engine makes them more refined to drive, and while chasing down parts can be a challenge, the smaller size and lower weight of the engine makes it easier to work on.
Other than the ultra-rare two-stroke Sonett, I'd say the coolest 96 strokers to own would be the GT850 and Montecarlo 850 performance models -- these have nicer interiors than the standard model, full instrumentation, more power, and competition heritage.
But as is usually the case, condition may be the most important factor. Unless you enjoy restoration projects, you'll get more fun out of a solid, ready-to-drive standard-spec V4 than you would out of a basket-case stroker, no matter how exotic.
