It could be a lot of things -- but when I had the same problem, it turned out to be the ball joints. One of them had dried up and started to seize. At first it squeaked only when I turned the steering wheel, as with your car, but eventually it got to where it squeaked ALL the time, just from going over road irregularities and such.

Fortunately, ball joints for the 95/96 are still readily available, not expensive, and not too difficult to change (although you MUST use a coil spring compressor when changing the uppers!!!)

There are other things in the front suspension that could squeak too, such as the tie rod ends and A-arm bushings, but my money's on the ball joints today.
