I had my Sonett trans completely rebuilt this past winter. It was one of the most pleasurable transactions I think I've ever had. A wonderful experience working with these people.
Get this- I shipped the bad gearbox out on a Tuesday (UPS- took off the bell housing). I called on Friday- "yes, have your gearbox all apart on the bench. Have all the parts in stock. Planning to shot-pean the ring and pinion to increase life. Should be all done soon." Box was completed on the following Tuesday and arrived at my home on Friday. It was a thing of beauty. Kept it on the dining room table for two weeks, for all to admire. My wife finally had enough with that... Installed with no problem in Sonett with estimated 120 HP (bored, cam, big valves, carb, balanced, etc). Runs oh so smooth! Jack uses better bearing technology, better fasteners to hold the shafts in place (primary failure mode is loose locknuts on the shafts), and sets them up tighter than factory. Cost, including a new used top cover (mine was cracked), was about $1200.
Ok- so who am I talking about??? None other than Jack and Pat Lawrence of Motor Sport Service in Jamestown, NY. Best to call- 716-665-4200.
You can't go wrong with Jack and Pat.
