I might quibble with (1), though, since the rear brakes don't provide all that high a percentage of the braking force. Unless you're having brake fade problems a rear disc upgrade probably isn't going to make that much difference. They do look a lot prettier behind open wheels, though.
Another point I feel I should mention here is that changing the rear brakes may upset the front/rear brake proportioning, especially in slick conditions. Early rear lock-up is not much fun. If you do this, you've essentially redesigned your brake system. You're now the engineer in charge and you should know what you're doing. I don't want to scare anyone off but this isn't quite as trivial as it might first appear.
