I had a set of 4 General Altimax HP in 185/65R15 on 5 bolt soccerballs on my '67 96. My spare was a General 165R15.
I found the hard part with the 185s was that they rub/bind on the rear fender when installing. My solution was to deflate the tire so I could "squish" it in easier. Once on, I inflated to desired pressure.
I figured I would only remove a rear tire it when it was flat (and therefore deflated) so no worries in that direction. The odd man out spare (165) was easy to install and close enough in size to get me home if needed without requiring me to carry an air pump.
