Hi Terra,
This particular BB is for the older Saab models which includes the model 96. You might want to post this on the C900 BB.
As to your problem, I've only owned a couple of 900's and am by no means an expert. That said, I'm not sure why a plug change would cause smoking. So one item to clarify- where is the smoke coming from? Engine compartment or tailpipe? What would cause smoking, would be the oil change. Did you spill oil on the manifold? That would cause smoking from the engine compartment. Worse (no offense), but are you certain you drained the old oil out before adding the new? This has happened to people by mistake and will cause lots of smoke from the tailpipe!
Again, this are just thoughts- you're better off asking on the C900 BB.
