It is my understanding that the cylinder bores & pistons (height) are the same on the 1.5 & 1.7. Basically the pre-71 and post 71 pistons were designed to fit a 3.54 in (90 MM) cylinder. The cranks (stroke) from a 1.5 & 1.7 are different and thus the compression (9 to 8:1 compression/height). Your crank would have a 17 on it whereas a 1.5 would have a 15 on it. I swapped a 17 crank into my 1.5 without issue. IMO that's the only real difference besides the actual heads themselves which have different bosses thickness for mounting. I would talk to MSS or Mark Ashcraft to be certain.
