So I replaced my rear center bushing as part of my overall restoration. I got the part from Skandix. Here's the process that was successful for me.
1) Drill out as much of the rubber as you can
2) Put a nut/bolt through the center metal sleeve and tighten
3) With a ratchet crank on the center metal sleeve until it finally comes loose and you can put metal sleeve out.
4) You can take a much of the rubber out as you like but what you will realize is the bushing's metal sleeve will be seized.
5) Take a hacksaw and cut the metal sleeve only. About maybe 3 minutes of work.
6) Peel down the metal sleeve using a hammer and punch. Basically from the inside crushing the sleeve to remove it all together.
7) Maybe luck...but when I punch down the metal sleeve and placed my punch on the bent metal, hammered away the sleeve dislodged from the encasement and it was out.
It's a bit intimidating at first but nothing more than a little patience and basic tools. Will this make my car handle better, I suspect not. Very few actually fail but I'm doing the best I can to fix and replace everything will there are parts somewhat available. I suspect 10 years from now nobody will produce these parts.
