Wow; I fixed my heater fan 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by sRoydSmith [Email] (#2589) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sRoydSmith) on Sun, 18 Aug 2019 22:04:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My newly acquired 1970 95 wagon came complete with a non-operational heater fan. Sure, the fuses were all corroded, so step one is to replace them all with stock 8 amp fuses and use an anti-corrosive paste on the ends to help prevent the corrosion (I hope). Fan was still not working so…
Removed it and found it hard to rotate from years (or decades) of not working. Why? One of the brushes had become dislodged from its holder. The brushes were not too short. One just did not like staying seated. A small dab of 5-minute epoxy fixed that. I oiled the bushings and used an electric drill to help limber them up without running and overloading the motor. Now it works on both speeds. On high speed it is drawing 6 amps. I hope that is normal but I don’t know.
