I had a car (not a Saab) that did something similar - it would start, idle and I could pull out but when I shifted into second and picked up a little speed it would die. I could immediately start it back up and pull out but every time I shifted it died. It turned out to be a clogged fuel pump only letting enough gas thru for low engine speed. It could also be a “soft” fuel line that is collapsing or the float level in the carb too low and when you pick up speed or go up hill the level is not enough to pick up. Have you disconnected the fuel line at the carb, put the line in a can or bottle and run the electric fuel pump to see what kind of flow you are getting? ( Be very careful if you do this!)
