Hi Chris, here's a recent pic of the 99T. Completly rebuilt engine and turbo went in this spring. Car ran very strong and I started driving it regularly. Then I lost the water pump in late August. The pump killed the idler shaft so I had to pull the engine out again. New idler and pump are now ready to install, but local Saabtechs here are theorizing that the water pump housing in the block may be so worn that it causes play in the waterpump shaft. The play is enough to cause the gears to slowly strip during operation - something they have seen before. This makes sense to me, since the pump that failed was new and the idler was in excellent condition. Testing this theory later this week. Will have the housing remachined if it proves true, then reinstall engine, hopefully by the end of this month.
Car itself has a new front bumper, new exhaust system, headliner, carpeting, dashboard, rear hatch and stereo along with a zillion mechanical details. I was planning on a paint job right before the pump went. While it was running, it was a blast to drive.
