I am just guessing as I never had any problem with missing engines in my 99T. ( I always made sure that the engine was firmly secured in the engine bay with the bonnet closed!)
Could it be something to do with the electronic ignition systems that the 99Ts ran. If it is you might be able to source a new electronic ignition module as Holden Camira part (well the 1983 900T uses the Camira module) Interferance from other electronic parts can also sometimes mess with ignition modules causing some strange symptoms.
Best of luck
Justin.
