Yeh! what Justin said. The last one that we restored cost AU$10 000 from a car that had done similar km's to the one you may be looking at, but that was to concourse condition. The parts in Aus, I thought were very expensive until I started playing with performance Jap bits.
Check the water pump for any signs of leaking. It is possible for water to get into the oil, and vice versa. Nightmare of a design. Water pump approx $300
Listen for a graunching sound from the gearbox when coming off the power. The lay shaft can often give problems. Gearbox rebuild $dont ask.
No doubt at 300 000 kms the dampers may be stuffed. Check that they are the original bilstiens as these can be regassed at approx $270 a pair. They realy make the car in my opinion.
Let the car idle for a few minutes after a run. If it starts to smoke, it means a quick trip to Garrett for a turbo rebuild approx $800 - $1000.
Check for exhast manifold leaks. It the manifold is cracked, you will most probably have to source a replacement O.S. Parts are starting to get rare. By the sounds of it you may need to by new injectors straight away, approx $300 a set.
These cars are classics and must be treated as such. They are very rewarding, and I prefer the 99t over the 900 Aero these days, and once sorted out and with a few mods they can go alot quicker than the standard 900aero. Be prepared to spend money on it, take that into account when you make an offer, but you will enjoy.
