I could scan in & send you the sketches I did of a similar idea to this in 1990... it would look good on a booted 99, especially if you recessed them slightly - go on, you know you want to do it! :)
The 95 lights would work if you set them low on the back, as they are designed to fit on a sloping panel, but they may be too low legally when you lower the suspension (?!) so you could try those little domed lights sold for trailers: you know the ones? ...they were used on Morris Minor vans. A row of three each side?
Another good idea to add to overall 'rear' smoothness is an old customisers trick from way back: the fold away or drop down numberplate. Connected to a relay or vacuum sensor it folds into view when you start the engine. I think there's a kit still sold for it.
