I have a 99T 4-speed, and it is the O-ring seal for the shift shaft. I had it replaced last winter, with the nylon bushing, but it leaks, more like a runny nose, but it is annoying me. I've been told that the seal presses into the case, and I am leaking around the outside of the seal where it is metal to metal.
I don't think I need to replace the nylon bushing, as the outer part of the seal is what is leaking. Since you sound like you have fixed this before, what is the best way to go about it, i.e., do I put the shifter in neutral or 1st, is it better to work from the top or under the car, these kinds of things.
Any info will help greatly.
Thanks.
