A 99T is fuel injected, and the electric fuel pump sits inside the tank, in the left side. With very little fuel in the tank, the pump will not be able to get at the fuel, during a sharp left turn. As a consequence, the pressure in the fuel line drops and the engine dies. To avoid this, a fuel accumulator (a small pressurized fuel reservoir) is installed in between the pump and the engine. Think of it as a cylinder with a spring loaded piston at the bottom. It also has a return valve, preventing the fuel from being pushed back into the tank. In theory, if you kept going in a tight circle for a minute or longer, even the fuel accumulator would run out, but it is only NASCAR drivers, that find this interesting ;-)
