I just experienced my first serious problem that may be beyond my fixing skills. I wa climbing the Grapevine going North on I-5 and I lost about everything. After looking and pressure testing. I have no compression in #1 cylinder and the spark plug has oil on it. Oil shot out and made my belt slip off. Where would this oil come from? Past the rings, out of the valve cover, shot through the broken head gasket? Any ideas? A Saab dealership tried to rip me off in LA so I brought it up to the Central Coast (Hollister; South of San Jose, East of Monterey). Can anyone recomend a shop that's ethical and honest? I'll see how much I can do, but I don't want to do more harm than good, plus time is hard to find (along with all the right tools). MY 1999 Saab 9-5 has 144000 mi and is still kicking, and I need her to still kick through undergrad at least!
