Saab 9-3 radio & cd changer

I have just bought a 99 Saab 9-3. The car has a CD changer and a radio with a cassette player. The CD changer doesn't work and is not seen by the radio at all (i.e. pressing CDC button doesn't do anything at all). I took it to the dealer and they did the whole marry/divorce thing to both the radio and the CD changer and the CD changer started to work...until I turned off the car and took out the key. Then, it was back to not working. The dealer did some diagnostics and told me that the problem is with the radio and something with the memory not remembering that it was married to the CD changer or some explanation of the sort. In short, they've said that I need to send the radio in for repair which will cost me a minimum of $100 + costs to repair it if the first $100 doesn't cover it. The money is one-half of the problem. They also said that the radio would be out for repair between 6-8 weeks. Does anyone out there know of this kind of problem and how I could fix it without going through the dealer? Is there any place where I could find used 9-3 radios for a reasonable price? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
ar
