neil - ihave gone to the pick and pulls looking for a smashed (meaning formerly no mechanical breakdown) car and pulled the tranny myself (unbolt it and let it drop on the gravel). the pick and pulls typically have the cars high enough to be able to crawl right under, do the unbolt, and yank it out. the price is under $50. you can by a warranty for another $20 and do this again if the unit you guessed on isn't good. this method chews alot of your time but some of us (used to) think this is fun. you can also take the tranny to a clutch or tranny shop and have them put it in for about $200. how many times do you do this until you reach $3000? the good news is that there LOTS of saab trannys out there in the yards. use the LINK section on the club web for the link to the local pick and pulls. roger w
