Hi Guys,
I agree that we as active parents need to limit screen time. My family has the rear-seat DVD in the family hauler 2008 Aspen. The DVD comes in handy on road trips to Grandma's house 200 miles away and to Colorado for ski trips.
The rear-seat DVD in my commuter car would not likely serve much purpose for the kids. The main reasons I want it are these:
1) As a car guy, I always want all the options and/or options in especially rare combinations. Rear-passenger DVD is still a rare option. Stephen hit the nail on the head.
2) As a consultant, I take other professionals out to lunch a lot. I often play tour-guide with a translator for foreign engineers visiting our offices here in Houston. No matter what the press tells you, all the guys I host really like being here. They get a kick out of experiencing America the way Americans live it. When I'm taking out the guests, I borrow the wife's Aspen. I have lately discovered that the guests really love watching Iron Maiden Live/2008. Imagine a team of Russians in my car listening to a recording of Aces High that kicks-off with Winston Churchill's famous speech: ''...We shall never surrender!'' The Russian guests love it. The English and Scots love it (no translator required).
I believe that the Saab brand bridges a gap between America and Europe. It's not German, it's not American, it's more-or-less neutral politically. Furthermore Saab is not 100% female like Volvo.
Anyone - let me know if you find a stick with the rear passenger package.
