Just had the same problem last Friday. Local dealer not open friday, understaffed & overloaded on saturday. Called Monday and got this advice from tech.... disconnect battery, then retry.
Here's my sequence of events: replaced battery in fob, one fob at a time, because I was expecting to get hung out to dry by anti-theft system. Still screwed up. Unlocked and tried to start with fresh fob....car wouldn't crank. Tried second fob, nothing to loose, seemingly not enough juice in second fob and no car response. Car sat until Monday morning. Totally dead car battery at this point, who knows why?; slow recharge all day with 2amp load. came home after work, unhooked battery for about 10 minutes. Reconnected (alarm went off), hit button on fob to halt alarm, opened door with manual key (per owner's manual, I think page 119), put fob in holder, hit ignition only, nothing, with immobilizer light on. MISTAKE? I think when I shut off alarm with fob. SOOO, turned off ignition, then locked door with manual key, no alarm triggered. Disconnected battery for a minute. Reconnected, no alarm this time, used manual key to get in door, put fob in holder, hit ignition button not touching break....all looked good. Then pushed on brake and hit ignition...FIRED UP, at which point I took a spirited ride on nearby country roads. When it runs, it runs well!!! Unfortunately the battery disconnect/reconnect didn't fix the navigation system reset glitch and the very short duration seat heater (on my second already). Ask me about the upper engine tear-down to find a variable timing problem and recurrent check engine light... better yet, don't. 2 months in shop and $3K later... Sorry for long reply. Love the car, 2010 9-5 Aero with heads up, lane departure, etc, but had to vent a little!!!
