I was told about 8-10 oil changes ago that my drain was stripped and I needed a new oil pan. I then was told that I could get the threads redone. So I went through with the repair of the threads. I was told that I should not have a problem again. Well with the cold wet weather I took my car to the indie to get the oil changed. My usual mechanic was booked so I went with the other mechanic, but since then i have noticed oil coming from the plug. so i got a new gasket for the plug, thinking that maybe he dropped it by mistake. when i took i back for some other work and to put the gasket on the plug about 2-3 weeks later my usual mech told me the gasket is still on the plug, but the threads were stripped out of my oil pan. When talking to the mech that did the previous oil change he said there was no way that he did it and that the threads must have just worn out. No one has touched my car between the time of the oil change and discovering that the pan is stripped. How can it just strip out? I paid good money to have the pan rethreaded and had it inspected by several good mech and was told by all that the treads are great. My usual mechanic has changed the oil before and has never had a problem with the plug or pan. The mechanic that did the last oil change says that he will look at it and put a larger self threading plug in, but he will not replace the pan. I would like the pan to be replaced so taht there will not be any more problems. Is it possible for the threads to just wear out with only 8-10 oil changes on new threads, or is the mechanic responsible for the missing threads? Please help!
Thank you,
Pete
