I went in to get my michelin MXV4s rotated and balanced yesterday (at the NTW where i purchased them), only to find that at 31k miles on the tires, i have 2/32nds on the front left tire and 4/32nds on the other three. i get them rotated and balanced at LEAST every 4k to 5k miles, so i was pretty stunned at the news.
the tire shop gave me about $89 in 'allowance' toward new tires, since these H rated Michelins were to last to 50k. i can get new MXV4s (195/60/R15H) installed for about $415 total (thanks to price meet comp and the allowance for wear on my tires), and that's a good price, but....
i haven't felt these Michelins (my second set, and the car has only 59,300 miles) handled all that well--particularly in the RAIN, nor were they very comfortable, nor did they LAST.
would anyone have a recommendation on a BETTER performing tire for my Saab? i do a mix of city/highway driving, mostly city....i can go back to a V rating if you think i'd get better wear. at 31k on an H rated tire, i can't say that's what i was expecting from the switch this last time. Thanks in advance for your comments.
