I just recently brought a '97 900 SE Turbo and it has all of it maintenance stickers but I had a general question on what philosophy everyone has used on the question of timing chain replacement. My understanding is that it is an "interference" type chain and when it goes you can have some serious problems. My car is running great but it has 73,000 miles on it. Should I replace it as preventive maintenance or wait ..Is there a way to know when you should replace it . Finally what is the ball park figure for a Saab mechanic do to the job.
