Last week I ugraded the brakes on my '96 900SETC to those from a '97 900. The rotors are slightly larger (1/4" in diameter), but the calipers are definitely sturdier. The calipers are a little tight with respect to the original Viking rims, but they do fit. However, the spring on the exterior of the caliper would shift after a bit of driving, and then would get knocked off by the rim. The springs caused some nice marks on the interior of the rim. I have taken the springs off for know and will wait until the pads wear a bit giving a it more clearance. The car drives and brakes fine without the springs in place.
The problem I had with a soft peddle was cured with a lot of bleeding. I was a little slow getting the first caliper re-connected which probably sent an air bubble way up the brake line.
