my timing chain still makes the same slapping sound it has been.
it is coming from the tensioner side. the tensioner itself is fine.
i started at square one by removing the chain off the sprockets, removing the tensioner, and getting everything timed back up as i did before.
i installed the tensioner with the pusher pushed back to 0, and then the bolt that pushes the spring. i turned the engine through one cycle to ensure proper timing and everything was fine. once i started the engine back up, same noise. i am wondering if it could be the guides, since i made the dumb mistake of not replacing them when i had the engine built, so they have around 110k on them.
i assume the timing cover needs to come off for this project, and im curious how much time this has taken anyone else to accomplish?
