It sounds like the drain hose is clogged up...very typical symptoms.

Open you hood, look back at the firewall, and you will see a rubber hose right smack in the middle. This is where the water from around your wipers, etc. drains, and when it fills up with leaves and other stuff, the water builds up in it and then goes into the HVAC system, draining out into your passenger footwell and giving you a musty/mildew smell from your vents.

The hose simply pulls off the firewall. Clean out all the leaves, gunk, etc. that's built up in it, as well as in the firewall opening that the hose came out of, then reinstall the drain hose.

That should take care of your problem...
