DI or DIC is the Direct Ignition Cassette. It is the red thing on top of the engine. Your vehicle originally was equiped with a screw driver handle and two double ended blades, in the trunk, in the foam around the spare tire. Use that to remove 4 torx screws that secure the DI, undo one electical connector* and off it comes. These often fail around 100K on higher mileage vehicles. But ones that have lower miles and more years can fail as well. They can fail without warning and many do. This is very common.

* the DI connector has a read part that is U shaped, it is slide out to one end as the connector is pulled off. If it has not been removed for a long time, it can stick on grime and dirt. A thin knife blade can help get it moving.

All DI's die in time, they do not last forever. Mamny carry a spare in the trunk for piece of mind and ultimate cost savings.

The DI has control electronics and 4 ignition coils.

If you go to the dealer it will cost much more than $300. So if it is the DI, $300 is the best you can do.

So, it is probabably the DI cassette. Can't garantee that, but if you need one, that is your best solution. That price is sales tax free to most destinations and free shipping.

If you know someone with a Saab, its it a 10 minute exercise to move the other DI to your vehicle to see if that will make it run. If they have a newer Saab and it has a black DI, those are compatable with your system, but not the other way around.
