How silly of a set of instructions is this for a cable adjustment.
I too, tried to figure it out after replacing my cable. Literally all I did was grab the spring coil section of the cable and jerk it around hard, not hard enough to pull it out of the firewall but I hope you get the point. If this is an old cable you just might need to replace it.
