Just use the 15mm wrench as it says.

You can carefully pull the tensioner forward while engine is running and listen for changes in the noise. But don't pull it to much forward, the belt might jump off.

It is usually the lower idler pulley that goes bad on the V6, but it could also be any of the accessories like, W-pump, alternator, A/C comp or power steering pump.
