Hello, everyone. Well, the A/C saga continues. I posted a message yesterday (linked below) regarding a few concerns I've been having recently. To summarize the key points, there has been an intermittent hissing coming from what sounds like the passenger side and a drop of water recently fell on the foot of my fiancee while she was sitting in the passenger seat. For all of the details, please see my previous posting. As fate might have it, there have been developments in regard to this whole situation. As I was leaving work yesterday afternoon, I turned the A/C on auto as I usually do. The driver-side vent cooled right down and was working properly. I felt all of the other vents (including rear) and they were just blowing warm air. Eventually, the middle vent and rear vent started blowing cooler air, but only after about 10 minutes of highway driving. The passenger-side vent never cooled down. The same was true this morning, as well. As Dean pointed out yesterday, there may be some blockage somewhere, but I don't have a clue where to begin. What are some other possible causes? I had the entire A/C system checked and leaks repaired at a reputable Saab mechanic last month to the tune of $840. They fixed numerous small leaks and recharged the system, so I find it hard to believe that the hissing is due to low refrigerant...I could certainly be mistaken, though. On my way to work this morning, I was performing a few tests and came up with a little more information. I turned the blower on high and very very very little air came out of any of the vents. I turned the system back to auto and tried again several miles down the interstate. This time, the same amount of air came through the vents, but after about 20 seconds, the air flow gradually increased until it reached the desired level. The driver-side vent blew cold, the middle and rear vents blew cool, and the passenger-side vent blew warm. As I indicated in my previous posting, there is a slight hiss from time to time. This morning, I noticed that if the A/C is on, there is a constant sizzle sound (it's the hiss, but it's so quiet, it sounds like a sizzle). From time to time, the hiss will come back and then retreat back to the sizzle. Grrr... On another note, the air flow selection disc below the middle vent is acting up (actually, it's not functional). When you turn the selection disc, the air flow does not change and you can hear loose/disconnected parts rattling around inside. How do I get to this and possibly repair it? Any other suggestions? By the way, the middle vent has never blown as forcefully as I think it should (compared to my C900, anyway), so I'm assuming the selection disc broke during a rotation and the vent is stuck between open and closed. It's starting to get really hot here and city driving is almost unbearable without A/C, so any input, suggestions, help, and/or ideas are greatly appreciated. I know this is long, but hopefully I've provided enough detailed information. Please feel free to respond with questions for clarification purposes, though. As a point of reference, I am a somewhat competent DIYer and have a Haynes manual. Thank you so much in advance. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
