Well, I finally broke down and got a Saab program card for my Tech II to attempt some A/C troubleshooting and change some factory defaults to more suit my needs (DRL's, shift light, etc). It's very useful and amazing the detail you can pull from it.
Question 1 - I am not sure what values I should be reading across various sensors and switches for the A/C system. ACC shows 0 faults but I am still getting warm air. Two suggestions pointed to an electrical problem so I was hoping to use Tech II to force the A/C on. Manually engaged the A/C relay and still no cold air. Also, with the air on, Tech II was showing both high pressure switches as being OPEN and the sun sensor as having 0 volts across it. I am not sure what other readings I should be showing as OPEN or having voltage across it when the A/C is on and should be running.
Just to clarify: Compressor spins, has freon in the system, A/C relay is good, fans come on...freon pressure reads pretty much the same across LO and HI ports. When ACC system is on, the idle doesn't bump up and no additional 'compressor' noises.
I am trying to troubleshoot as much myself with Tech II before taking to the shop. Any other common points to check before I can assume its the evaporator or clutch? Can I directly check readings at the A/C clutch within Tech II or will I have to use my multimeter?
Question 2 - I was playing with other settings in the Tech II but couldn't get communication established with the Gearbox - Trionic module. I know with other GM cars, if the fuse is blown to something trivial (like the cig. lighter), Tech II has problems communicating with parts of the car. I checked and everything seemed to be good with communications to other systems (ABS, engine, etc), but still no transmission communication. I assume Trionic is where I can change the Shift Light setting?
Any suggestions of things burried within the menus that I should check/play with? Engine modifications? Emissions?
Thanks!
