Joshua,

If you're trying to diagnose the idle surge as you go into drive or reverse -- I've been there. I also have a '95 900s automatic (convertible) and the idle surges slightly but very annoyingly as I go into drive or reverse. For the first year I owned it (bought it three years ago) it drove me crazy. When I got it, it had a leaking head gasket and bad balance chain sprockets, so right away I fixed that. I've also cleaned the ISV, the throttle body, put in a new temperature sender, replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and gear selector switch -- nothing helped the idle surge.

There was an ECU upgrade, but I verified that it had been done on my car. I can get details on it, but I double-checked the ECU part number and the recall code stamped on the passenger's door jamb.

So, as a last resort, I bought a used ECU on ebay for $50. Put it in -- no difference. I wish I could be more help, but I'm stumped. I talked to the local dealer mechanic about it, but they were pretty clueless and I didn't get the feeling that they'd be able to fix it without a bunch of diagnostic time ($$$) or telling me that I'd need to spend several hundred dollars on a new ECU.

So I learned to live with it. I doesn't bother me as much as it did, but that's only because I don't think there's a simple fix.

You're welcome to my 'spare' ECU for the same price I paid, just let me know. But in reading your prior posts, I don't think it'll help. I do suppose there's a chance that the one I bought has the exact same problem. If you could find someone that doesn't have a surging idle and talk them into swapping out ECUs that might confirm that it is or is not the ECU.

Chris.
