Ahem.
If you read the original question again, you will see that it concerns the following scenario:
* Car is ALREADY in 3rd gear and gaining speed
* When it reaches 2500 rmps or so, the revs drop again, but it is NOT a shift up to 4th.
The Aisin-Warner auto tranny in the ng900 has a lockup feature that's active in ALL gears except 1st, unlike many other cars that will only lock up in the highest gear. The fact that one seldom experiences lockup in 2nd is because generally in 2nd gear you will be accelerating, and lockup does not occur until you're either just "cruising along" or accelerating very lightly. But, put your tranny in the "2" position and cruise along at sloooow speeds in 2nd and you WILL feel it lock up there too.
I have had this car for just about a year and a half, and I am VERY familiar with how this (and other) auto trannies work, thank you.
