I've had my '97 900 SETC automatic,first Saab ever,for a blissful year and a half.I got it with 84k miles after having heard the (turbo) engines are just getting broken in around then.All it's needed,besides normal maintenance stuff,was a DI cassette at 92k miles.I was well prepared for this,thanks to the fine folks on this site.Going by what I've read here,and through experience so far,the auto transmissions are near bulletproof.That provided,with reasonable maintenance.Totalled out,all she's cost me in 18 months since the sale has been 500.Admittedly that didn't include speeding tickets-another first for me.Good luck,with a little common sense and an Indy mechanic you can't go far wrong.
