I would not expect a replacement seal to then leak again.
If it is the rear seal, you would see a drip at the lowest part of the bell housing. Look and know for sure. Folks first see oil stains under their vehicles if the seal is gone. Some front seals fail, not many, but it does happen, again oil stains are the first indicator.
One quart in 3K is within the realm of normal consumption, especially if you have stuck piston rings. Those can be freed up with solvent type engine oil additives. There are two types of those, some you add and drive on. Others are added as a flush at the time of your oil change and you cannot put any load on the engine once added. Then there is AutoRX, which is not a solvent type, but seems to be quite effective.
What kind of oil have you been using? Changed how often?
Does your low oil pressure warning light come on before you crank the engine?
