I feel I'm fairly good in mechanics and I don't know how I would be able to install the clutch in a different way so that this didn't happen.
The first time it happen I thought maybe I had torqued down the pressure plate in an uneven pattern, so the next ones I paid special care to when tightening the 6 bolts holding pressure plate to flywheel and still it has happened to some cars after that.
What I beleive is that the quality of pressure plates have gone down or that it is a batch out there in circulation that was bad from factory.
What I do now is to check all fingers on pressure plate so that they are of even height before installing transmission. I have caught a couple of bad ones that way and had to replace the clutch again. That is still much better though than having to remove the transmission again.
