My ideal would be remote lock/unlock w/ no alarm. I live in a condo complex that frown$ upon car alarms going off and I heartily agree -- I *hate* it when car alarms go off every time there's a thunderstorm, or wind, or someone sneezes, etc., and I also don't want to hear a chirp-chirp every time I use my car. Keeping a spare key handy is a good idea for any car, but there shouldn't be a kilo-$ fine for a very understandable real-life screw-up (I've already paid for plenty of others...).
If I lived in a high-theft area, my feelings would be different, but the local news here in southern Colorado gives informative tips like "Don't leave your car running, even if you're only going into a store for a few minutes." and "Remember to take your keys out of the car when you park." (Yes, there *are* people that need to hear this.) And I didn't pay much for the car, only about twice the cost of a new alarm-ECU.
Anyway, I don't mean to sound too sour - I love Saabs (used to drive a 87 900 NA) and I'm really excited about this new one. I guess the alarm system will just have to be one of those lovable/annoying quirks that we learn to live with (cupholders, anyone ?)
