You might have a bad wheel bearing in the rear.
The wheel bearing, wheel hub and speed sensor is one whole unit and if the wheel bearing goes bad sending small metal particles into the speed sending unit it will upset the signal and it could generate a fluctuating gauge and ABS light on.
It's no easy way to determine if this is the case if you don't know the ins and outs of the system and have an electrical diagram to follow.
It could also be the ABS computer that is whacky, sending a bad signal up to the speedo cluster computer.
So what needs to be determined is if the signal going INTO the ABS ECU from wheel is bad or if it is the signal going OUT of the ABS ECU up to speedo cluster.
Or if both those two signals are good, than the fault tracing has to continue to other places.
Using the Tech 2 scanner it is possible to study the incoming signals from all wheels. That makes it easier to at least see if something is going on with the wheel sensor.
