Great news. It seems as if your problems were very similar to mine. I ended up solving mine with a new crank sensor and swapping out the main relay. But, a few weeks later, I also changed out my thermostat, which was bad like yours. Now, maybe this was part of my problems all along. It is very possible that I had a few different things going on, all of which really compounded my troubleshooting ability. Anyway, I have been "start trouble free" for over a month now.
To follow up, what type of symptoms did you have? You mention it would not fire. So, it would crank and crank, but not fire? Would you then get an intermittent fire, and finally it would start but run bad (almost to die, esp. if touch the gas pedal) for a minute or two until it finally "caught" and ran fine? Just wondering ... this was my scenario, and I wonder how similar it was to your experience.
