the value of the used car depends on what's in demand. The value of a used car does not necessarily relfect the virtues (or lack of) for a car. IE resale values on Hondas and Toyotas are very good here in the States, because they are the car of the masses and most people like them. The only reason, I would buy a Honda or a Toyota is if it allowed me to lower my car payments to allow my wife to stay home with the children. I certainly wouldn't buy it otherwise. I'd be curious to see the resale value trends in Europe, where Japanese cars are not prized like they are here. Look at the resale for Audi's, they are hot cars right now and their resale value has skyrocketed. A few years ago, it wasn't very good because people were not familiar enough to think about buying them. Demand for BMW has always been strong in the States and will continue. I feel that SAAB is on it's way up, but until then, the used SAABs are bargains for people who buy them used.
